Martin selected 'Distinguished Visiting Engineer' at Los Alamos National Laboratory

Alexandre Martin, Ph.D., W. Raymond Stamler Chair Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the University of Kentucky Pigman College of Engineering's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, has been selected to the Distinguished Visiting Engineer program at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

During his appointment, Martin will collaborate with LANL researchers to address critical challenges in hypersonics and thermal protection systems, identify new research opportunities and help establish pathways for graduate student internships, research appointments, and future careers at one of the nation's premier national laboratories.

This prestigious appointment recognizes Martin's internationally recognized expertise in hypersonics, thermal protection systems and atmospheric entry, while strengthening the growing partnership between the University of Kentucky and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Martin's work highlights the UK Pigman College of Engineering's growing leadership in aerospace research, and reflects its commitment to advancing technologies of national importance.
